June Demonstration: Turning a Femisphere

A Femisphere: something that has one side, two edges and four vertices--and Clyde showed us how to make one!

Not only did he show us how to make a femisphere, but he made it look easy.

Clyde's demo made good use of GCWA's light/sound/video truss. We had four camera controlled from a central console--impressive!

Clyde did a good job of explaining the steps and demonstrating the process.

Another view of the demonstration area and the truss setup.

Faces In the Crowd and Other Pictures

July's meeting included a "critique" by three advanced turners, Bill Berry, Jerry Bennett and Jim Keller.  They offered suggestions about form and function to turners who elected to have their pieces critiqued.

The critique was well attended, not only by those who had pieces critiqued but also for who just wanted to pick up a few pointers.

Steve LeGrue offered a safety tip about the danger of not properly disposing of rags used to apply oil finishes.

Club president, George Kabacinski, opened the meeting and thanked all GCWA members who acquired, assembled and transported the GCWA light/sound/video truss, especially Mack DeBose.

There was a good selection of tools to choose from at July's Tool Swap.

Larry Zarra explains how he made and finished his Hackberry bowl.

Dale Barrack talks about his bark-included piece.

Crowd shot.

Bill Pottorf discusses his Sycamore hollowform.

Marvin Fowler talks about his Elm vase, one of two items for which he won awards in the Intermediate Category.
