August's Learning Experience: Hollowing Tool Rodeo with Steve LeGrue

Steve LeGrue, club president talked about and demonstrated many of the tools and equipment options used in hollowing.

Steve talked about tool selection....

...then demonstrated their use.

Much of the discussion centered around torque-arresting systems and laser guidance options.

Steve also demonstrated an "elbow" hollowing system.

There's always good interest in Steve's demos.

Another view of  participants at August's meeting

Ed Peine demonstrated his Oneway hollowing system...

...and someone in the audience handed him this "Tool Envy" sign--be sure to enlarge the thumbnail and read the sign!

Gerogene Huckeba watches Don Fluker use his embow hollowing system.

The great thing about GCWA demos is that everyone gets a chance to try new ideas out.

Here's Fog Tanner trying
Don's system

Other Worthy Entries

Take a closer look at the item immediately above.   It didn't win an award, in fact, it wasn't even entered into the competition.  It's a piece by Jerry Bennett, one of the nation's premier segmented sculpture turners.  Jerry often doesn't enter his work in Show & Tell just to give other members a chance to win ribbons.  What a guy!
