An Item Not Entered into Competition (but a beauty to behold!)

Our own Jerry Bennett (right) is one of
America's premier segmented woodturners (that's a fact, folks).
This piece is featured in the October 2010 American
Woodturner magazine (pg. 50) and is entitled "Feelin' Those
Good Vibrations."
Jerry, along with our own Andy Chen,
will be two of the featured demonstrators at the 2nd Annual
Segmenting Symposium at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts,
Gatlinburg, TN, November 11-14. Congratulations Jerry and
Andy! |

September's Demo: Surface Decoration by Paula Haymond

Paula Haymond has garnered many Show & Tell ribbons with her beautifully
decorated plates. |

For September's demonstration, Paula shared some of her
techniques with GCWA members. |

As usual, interest in GCWA demo's was keen. |

|

|

A little known fact about Paul: she holds a Doctor's of
Education degree. |

|

Paula draws her designs on paper and transfers
them to the work piece before she begins to carve and color. |

Here, Paula is shown using a high-speed cutter to
create the design. |

A good demo, enjoyed by all! |
|
Faces in the Crowd

The Lending Library was active at September's meeting. |

Frank Campbell discusses the Corian bracelet he made. |

Delbert Pond tells the crowd about his
award-winning box. Larry Zarra (right) was the Master of
Ceremonies for Show & Tell. |

Larry had to do double duty here--he was not only
the Master of Ceremonies, he also was the award recipient! |

A close up of long time member and outstanding
woodturner, Kendall Westbrook. |
