Presentation: Judging by Bill Berry and Dale Barrack

Club president, Don Fuller, introduced the presenters, Bill Berry and Dale Barrack who discussed Judging.

GCWA is one of the few, perhaps only, AAW club that judge and award ribbons in six different categories at every meeting.  It's the club's belief that friendly competition hones skills and promotes creativity.

The Judging presentation was broken into six subjects: Judging Categories, Judging Guidelines, Awards, Balancing Technical & Judgmental Elements (when judging), Selecting Judges and Show & Tell Participation.

Members agreed that the presentation was worthwhile since it allowed all members to have the same understanding about the judging process.

Dale Barrack discussed Judging Categories, Awards  and Selecting Judges.  Bill Berry covered the other three topics.

Because GCWA is a large club (190 members), every effort is made to ensure members see and hear presentations.  That job falls to Lane Bradford (l) and Tom Irven (r).  Thanks guys!

The presenters took turns advancing presentation slides while the other discussed a topic.

Bill Berry, in addition to being one of the presenters on Judging, is also the Master of Ceremonies for Show & Tell where award recipients are encouraged to tell members about their turned pieces.

Because of the cold weather and icy roads, January's turnout was smaller than usual.

You can download the complete presentation by clicking the above image.  It's a PDF file about 500K in size (i.e., not a large file).
