    June 2017 Club Meeting

    9:00 AM-2:00 PM
    06-16-17-06-17-17
    Trini Mendenhall Community Center
1414 Wirt Rd, Houston, TX 77055, USA

We are pleased to announce that noted turner, artist, teacher and promoter of woodturning, Avelino Samuel will be the guest demonstrator this month.  We apologize for the late notice on this, but we only learned he was in town very recently, and he generously made himself available to the club on short notice.

The June meeting will be a modified Demo Day format. We will still have the normal Raffle and Show-And-Tell. We will also have an extended time for Avelino’s demo, with a planned end at 2:00 PM.

We do NOT PLAN A LUNCH BREAK, so we encourage you to bring a snack to tide you over until mid-afternoon.

Upcoming Hands On Workshop (HOW) Classes

GCWA provides one of the best series of hands-on woodturning classes of any club in the nation.  These classes are provided as a benefit to club members only, and have a very nominal fee to simply cover costs.  Starting in 2017, HOW class fees for standard classes will be $45 per day.

Instructors can range from club members to regional and national turners that the club brings has brought in for club demonstrations as well.  Many classes are still in the planning stages for 2017, and an updated Events List of HOW classes will be published as these dates become available.

See below for registration information.

Note:  If a class is full and you want into that class please sign up to be on the wait list.  There are often times when folks on the wait list get into a class that was full when they attempted to register.
